October 9, 2020 - Virtual Concert Series Newsletter
Last week’s “Stars of Tomorrow” virtual concert featured eight string students, ages 12 through 21, who attended (while staying home) the 2020 virtual summer program of the Heifetz International Music Institute. Equipped with high quality microphones and headphones, they performed remotely with pianists often hundreds or thousands of miles away. This week four of the students return (virtually, of course). They are cellists, Benjamin Doane (Tchaikovsky’s Pezzo Capriccioso, Courante from Bach’s 4th Cello Suite and Elgar Cello Concerto) and Willard Carter (1st movement of Haydn’s C major Cello Concerto and Sarabande), and violinists, Bobby Park (Zigeunerweisen) and Corina Deng (Sicillienne and Ragaudon, Bach’s G minor solo Sonata, Bruch g minor Violin Concerto, and Zigeunerweisen). The concert closes with two pieces of “checkerboard chamber music,” performed by nine other students (The Grand Finale concert).
