October 16, 2020 - Virtual Concert Series Newsletter
During this week’s virtual concert, you will hear Andrew Tyson early in his career as a concert pianist. First you will hear a Chopin group from the 2010 International Chopin Competition in Warsaw (F major Etude, Op. 10, No. 5, Mazurka in C major, Op. 33, No. 2, Mazurka in A minor, Op. 59, No. 1, and E major Scherzo, Op 54). After that comes a major work by Robert Schumann, Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes, recorded at the 2011 Cleveland Competition. Later that year Andrew would win the international competition of Young Concert Artists, which gave him professional management plus debut recitals in New York and the Kennedy Center. This week’s virtual concert then closes with a recently recorded encore that will charm the socks off any audience, Rachmaninoff’s delightful transcription of the Gavotte from Bach’s E major Partita for solo violin.
