This week presents two works by Schubert featuring the Borromeo String Quartet. Violinist, Nicholas Kitchen, violist, Mai Motobuchi, and cellist, Yeesun Kim-Kitchen are joined by two NEC students, pianist, Yannik Rafalimanna, and double bassist, Elizabeth Burns, for a performance of Schuberts’s ebullient “Trout” Quintet. The second work on this week’s concert is Schubert’s powerful String Quartet in D minor, D. 810, better known by its nickname, “Death and the Maiden.” To hear the entire work four links are needed: Movement I, Movement II, Movement III, and Movement IV. In listening to the piece you may want to have handy a box of Kleenex for the second movement and seat belts for Movement IV.
