Our virtual concert opens with Andrew Tyson’s final round performance of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor at the 2015 Geza Anda Competition. The Borromeo String Quartet is next heard in a 2017 performance of Debussy’s String Quartet in G minor. The performance took place at Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, VA during the six week summer program of the Heifetz International Music Institute. The great pianist-composer Sergei Rachmaninoff transcribed three movements from Bach’s E major Partita for solo violin. We now hear Andrew play the delightful Gavotte from Bach’s Partita No. 3 as transformed by Rachmaninoff.
