This week’s virtual concert is a 50 minute piano recital performed by Henry Kramer, when he and Alex Beyer were two of the five finalists in the 2017 American Pianists Awards competition. A sonata by Haydn opens the recital. This is followed by Chopin’s B-flat minor Sonata, whose third movement is the famous funeral march. In this concert he also plays the first movement, Ondine, from Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit. He closes with four imaginative short pieces of Ligeti leaving one wanting to hear more from this young pianist.
