The Strength of God
Cindi Easterling
From the beginning, Psalm 29 attributes prominently to the omnipotence of the Lord. It is this psalm of praise which invites holy worship of the Lord by all who hear His voice. The Lord’s voice, or “will,” is powerful and demonstrates the strength and glory of the Creator.
Attention is drawn to God’s vocal power using imagery of dominance of nature and its disasters, such as earthquakes, shattering and shaking of trees that strip the forest bare, and storms upon the mighty waters. The Lord is in control of them all. These examples promote reason to identify God with glory, and to give Him worship.
Through this psalm, I recently have been able to connect God’s power through natural disasters within my own state. Watching the responses of neighbors, out-of-state persons, and others of all types, I believe that God has instilled in us that continued faith will keep us strong through life’s disasters. God has given calm and strength to his believers. Because God has given His strength, we share in divine strength.
With the coming of Advent each new day enables us to worship him and trust in His divine strength, and that shared strength allows us to prepare for the hope and joy of the return of Christ. I am thankful that I have been able to continue the path destined for me and that my days are filled with divine strength, hope, and joy.
